RONALD WINSTON grew up in Westchester, New York and graduated with an honors degree in science and English from Harvard University, where he was friends with Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert. He went on to work at MIT and then at New York University in rocket propulsion. Winston entered the family diamond business in his late 20s at the behest of his father, Harry Winston, and after his father’s death in 1978, he took over the company, building it into a world-famous brand. Now retired, Ronald Winston lives in New York and Santa Barbara, California with his family.
EMILY HECKMAN is a freelance editor and writer. Formerly an Executive Editor at Simon & Schuster and before that a Senior Editor at Random House, she spent 20 years in-house publishing best-selling authors of both fiction and nonfiction. She has also written, as a co-author and ghostwriter, nine books (all nonfiction) that have been published by the “Big 5” publishers. Authors she has worked with include Stephen King, Jeffery Deaver, Anne Rule, Adele Parks, Wendell Berry, Tracy Kidder, and many others. She lives in Santa Barbara, California.
