Madeline Miller

Madeline Miller was shortlisted for the 2012 Stonewall Writer of the Year and her first novel, The Song of Achilles, won that year’s Orange Prize for Fiction and was a New York Times bestseller. Her second novel, Circe, was an instant number #1 New York Times bestseller and was short-listed for the 2019 Women’s Prize for Fiction (formerly the Orange Prize.) Circe also won the Indies Choice Best Adult Fiction of the Year Award, the Indies Choice Best Audiobook of the Year Award, and an American Library Association Alex Award given to adult books that demonstrate crossover appeal to teen readers. Circe is currently being adapted for an 8-episode series with HBO Max.

 

Madeline Miller grew up in NYC and Philadelphia, and received a BA and MA in Classics from Brown University. She taught and tutored Latin, Greek, and Shakespeare to high school students for over fifteen years. She has also studied at the Yale School of Drama, where she focused on the adaptation of classical texts to modern forms.

With more than 20 years of experience as a senior executive, Stacy has left an indelible mark on iconic L.A. arts, non-profit, and educational institutions such as The Broad, the Autry Museum of the American West, and the Skirball Cultural Center. Building on an early career in book publishing, she has dedicated her professional life to sharing stories and broadening the reach of public institutions to welcome visitors and students of all ages and backgrounds to experience educational, arts, and cultural opportunities.
