Yesika Salgado

Yesika Salgado is a Los Angeles based Salvadoran poet who writes about her family, her culture, her city, and her fat brown body. She has shared her work in venues and campuses throughout the country.

Salgado is a two time National Poetry Slam finalist and the recipient of the 2020 International Latino Book Award in Poetry.

Her work has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, Teen Vogue, Univision, CNN, NPR, TEDx, and many digital platforms. She is an internationally recognized body-positive activist and the writer of the column Suelta for Remezcla.

Yesika is the author of the best-sellers Corazón, Tesoro, and Hermosa, published with Not a Cult.

Yesika Salgado es una poeta salvadoreña que vive en Los Ángeles. Ella escribe sobre su familia, su cultura, su ciudad, y de su cuerpo gordo color marrón. Ha compartido su trabajo en lugares y campus por todo el país.

Salgado es dos veces finalista del National Poetry Slam y ganadora del Premio Internacional del Libro Latino 2020 en poesía.

Su trabajo ha sido destacado en el Los Ángeles Times, Teen Vogue, Univision, CNN, NPR, TEDx y muchas plataformas digitales. Ella es una activista de la positividad corporal reconocida internacionalmente y autora de la columna Suelta para Remezcla.

Gloria Lucas

Gloria Lucas was born and raised in Southern California and founded Positivity Pride in 2014 at the age of 24. Struggling with an eating disorder (ED) and not being able to relate to the conventional narratives of ED she was moved to share her story with the world. Gloria has a background in grassroots feminist organizing, sexual health education and HIV/AIDS services. With the help and support of people from her hometown, Inland Empire (IE), family, and friends she was able to grow and impact the lives of thousands who have struggled with body image and ED. Her areas of focus have consisted of eating disorder harm reduction, size diversity, and colonialism. Her work has been featured in NPR, Teen Vogue, MTV,  PBS, Los Angeles Times, and Bitch Magazine. She is the person behind Mujeres Market, Seeds from The Flesh, and co-owner of Feminist WoC Biz Center. She currently resides in Orange County.

Gloria Lucas nació y creció en el Sur de California y fundó Nalgona Positivity Pride en 2014 a la edad de 24 años. Después de luchar con un trastorno de la alimentación (ED por sus siglas en inglés) y no poder relacionarse con las narrativas convencionales del trastorno alimenticio, se motivó a compartir su historia con el mundo. Gloria tiene experiencia en organización feminista de base, educación sobre salud sexual y servicios de VIH/SIDA. Gracias a la ayuda y el apoyo de personas de su área natal Inland Empire (IE), su familia y amigos, Gloria pudo crecer e impactar las vidas de miles de personas que han luchado con la imagen del cuerpo y el trastorno de la alimentación. Sus áreas de enfoque han sido reducción de daños por el trastorno alimenticio, diversidad de tamaño y colonialismo. Su trabajo ha aparecido en NPR, Teen Vogue, MTV, PBS, Los Angeles Times, y Bitch Magazine. Es la persona detrás de Mujeres Market, Seeds from The Flesh, y co-dueña de Feminist WoC Biz Center. Actualmente vive en el condado de Orange.
