Shawn Rubin

CHIEF FINANCIAL AND OPERATING OFFICER

In 2021, Shawn Rubin joined the Library Foundation of Los Angeles (LFLA) as our Chief Financial Officer. As CFO, Shawn is responsible for the company’s financial functions, including accounting, audit, treasury, corporate and foundation finance, as well as investor relations. She also oversees and manages the Human Resources function. 

Her career spans more than 20 years of varied experience in fiscal management, business leadership, and organizational strategy. Key areas of her current role include collaboration with the President and CEO, Board of Directors, City Librarian, and other Library personnel on the management of the endowments, multiyear budgets, strategic vision for the foundation and fiscal year funding. 

Shawn came to LFLA after serving as a Vice President of School Finance at ExED, a mission-driven nonprofit providing CFO services to charter schools. While at ExED Shawn acted as the CFO for seven different schools with combined operating budgets of over $35MM and student enrollment totaling 2,600. As their finance leader, Shawn ensured the schools remained profitable and successful through various challenges. Prior to this Shawn worked at American Express where her final role was as the Director and Lead Finance Officer for the Global Business Travel group and Citigroup as Vice President, CFO Finance. 

She holds an MBA in Finance, with a minor in International Business, from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and a BA in Political Science with a minor in Spanish Literature from the University of California, San Diego.
