Join Young Literati Chair Amanda Fairey and Honorary Chairs Samantha Hanks and Busy Philipps in celebrating the Los Angeles Public Library.  Curated by Roy Choi, Amanda and Shepard Fairey, Kate Hudson, and Jason Reitman, the evening will feature readings and musical performances exploring the diverse literary and cultural history of Los Angeles.

This year’s event will feature readings and performances by actress Gillian Jacobs (Community, Girls), DJ/producer Ali Shaheed Muhammed (A Tribe Called Quest), comedian Jason Mantzoukas (The League), comedian and actress Jenny Slate (Obvious Child), GRAMMY-winning L.A. band La Santa Cecilia, and more.  The program will be hosted once again by Young Literati Honorary Chair Busy Philipps. Guests will be treated to cocktails and appetizers on the roof deck of the newly-opened LINE Hotel in Koreatown.

The Young Literati Seventh Annual Toast will support the Los Angeles Public Library’s Full STEAM Ahead programA series of integrated science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) workshops and events for children, teens, and adults, Full STEAM Ahead seeks to inspire and motivate with fun, hands-on learning activities intent on developing personal traits of curiosity, creativity, and persistence essential to a productive life as well as crucial for successful STEM careers – all for free at the Los Angeles Public Library.

Patron packages start at $1250.  Tickets: $400 VIP; $175 general admission; $125 Young Literati Members. Patron packages and ticket information here

Gillian Jacobs

Gillian Jacobs can currently be seen in the fourth season of the HBO hit Girls and is also currently in production on the sixth season of the critically-acclaimed comedy Community (premiering March 17th on Yahoo Screen.

 


Ali Shaheed Muhammad

DJ/Producer Ali Shaheed Muhammad is known around the world as one-third of the legendary hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest.  With a sharp eye for talent, Muhammad has produced, developed, and collaborated with some of the world’s greatest artists, and keeps busy performing as a DJ around the globe.

 


Jason Mantzoukas

Actor, writer, and improvisational comic Jason Mantzoukas is known for playing Rafi in the FXX show The League, co-starring with Sacha Baron Cohen in The Dictator, and co-hosting the “How Did This Get Made?” podcast with Paul Scheer and June Diane Raphael.

 


Jenny Slate

Jenny Slate recently made her feature film debut in Gillian Robespierre’s critically acclaimed Obvious Child, which premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival.  For her breakout performance in the film, Slate was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for “Best Female Lead Actor,” a Gotham Award for “Breakthrough Actor,” and a Critics’ Choice Award for “Best Actress in a Comedy.” She will also be honored with a 2015 Virtuoso Award at the Santa Barbara Film Festival.

 


La Santa Cecilia

GRAMMY winners La Santa Cecilia exemplify the modern-day creative hybrid of Latin culture, rock, and world music. The group draws inspiration from all over the world, utilizing Pan-American rhythms like cumbia, bossa nova, rumba, bolero, tango, jazz, rock, and klezmer music. They are proud to be from the City of Angels.
