THE LIBRARY FOUNDATION OF LOS ANGELES NAMES SHAWN RUBIN AS CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

 

(Los Angeles, CA – September 9, 2021) The Library Foundation of Los Angeles (LFLA) today announced Shawn Rubin as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The role of the CFO is a key member of the executive leadership team, leading all financial functions for the organization. Rubin will report to the Library Foundation of Los Angeles president and begins her post in September 2021.

“We are thrilled to have someone with Shawn’s wealth of finance knowledge and experience join our team at the LFLA,” says Senior Vice President Melanie Burzynski. “She is going to be a critical member of our senior team as we reshape and advance our fundraising efforts.”

In this role, Shawn will develop and maintain budget and financial forecasting as well as oversee accounting, budgeting, managing investments and grant funds, contracts and gift annuities, and providing oversight of payroll and Human Services. Her position will also prepare, evaluate, review, and report on specific budget and cash flows that support the signature programs the Library Foundation of Los Angeles fundraises for the Los Angeles Public Library.

Shawn comes to the LFLA from ExED, a non-profit that provides financial services to charter schools, as VP of Finance. She has a background of providing CFO level support for four different organizations managing a total of over $36 million in operating budgets. She has also worked closely with boards and organizational leaders to provide strategic insight through monthly forecasts, five-year financial plans, cash management analysis, private and public grant management, and other budget analytics.

Prior to ExED, Rubin has worked for top tier companies like American Express, Citi and Nortel Networks and she has an MBA in Finance from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.
