Veena Sud is the creator, executive producer, and showrunner for the original series The Killing. The show was nominated for six Emmys in 2011, including outstanding cast for a Drama series and Sud’s nomination for outstanding writing for a Drama series. The fourth and final season of the show recently premiered on Netflix, along with all other seasons. Sud has also been honored for The Killing in The Hollywood Reporter’s 2011 Power Showrunners List and Variety’s Women’s Impact Report.Sud was previously a writer and executive producer on the CBS police procedural Cold Case. Prior to that, she was a staff writer on ABC’s Push, Nevada. She worked as a print and broadcast journalist in New York City before moving into television writing. Sud is an alumnus of New York University’s Graduate Film and Television program. Her short films have been screened internationally, including at the Berlin International Film Festival. Sud’s fascination with “dark, flawed, complicated women” started at a young age. At 16 years old, Sud wrote her first screenplay about two prostitutes after persuading a Cincinnati vice cop to show her the underbelly of her town.She lives in Los Angeles and is represented by William Morris Endeavor.
