Bibliophiles

Support the future of the Los Angeles Public Library by creating a planned gift today.

This honorary society recognizes the generosity of individuals who have named the Library Foundation of Los Angeles as a beneficiary in their estate plans. This esteemed philanthropic group helps ensure that the Los Angeles Public Library will inspire and educate future generations.

There is no minimum gift to become a Member of the Bibliophiles—simply inform us that you have named the Library Foundation in your will or trust or have designated the Library as a beneficiary of a retirement account or insurance policy.

As a Bibliophile, you will receive:

  • An invitation to an annual event honoring the Bibliophiles
  • Invitations to Library Foundation special events
  • A subscription to the Library Foundation Newsletter
  • Acknowledgement in the Library Foundation’s annual Honor Roll of Donors
  • Planned Gifts Options and Organization Information

Types of planned gifts can include:

  • Wills and Living Trusts (also known as bequests)
  • Charitable Trusts
  • Charitable Gift Annuities
  • Retirement Accounts
  • Life Insurance

Gifts to the Library are not subject to estate tax. Please consult with your attorney or other advisors to make sure that the gift you choose makes sense as part of your overall estate plan.

Donating Gifts of Stock

Donating financial stock or equity is a great way to support our mission.

When you donate your appreciated stock, mutual funds, or bonds to the Library Foundation of Los Angeles, we use the proceeds to support the community-uplifting power of the Library!

A benefit to donating stock is that you will not need to pay any capital gains tax on the appreciated value and the total value of your gift may be tax-deductible. As always, we recommend that you consult your tax or financial professional for advice before making charitable donations.

The first step in making a gift of this type is to provide your brokerage firm with securities transfer information. Please contact us via the contact form below to initiate the process.
