The LAPL is nurturing a new generation of civic leaders. Teens work with librarians to collectively identify and research a community issue—housing crisis, environmental justice, a need for beautification. Then, together with community stakeholders, come up with a plan to address it.
Each project involves problem-solving, collaboration, project management, and technical and digital literacy. But above all the experience is wholly empowering, teaching young people all over Los Angeles that they can affect real change.
The next cycle of projects will begin in the Fall of 2025. To get involved, please contact Shirley Thao at shirleythao@lfla.org or by phone at 213.292.6269.
