LFLA Member Reception: Built for the Future—Saved for the Next Century
Schedule
5:30pm — Member Pre-Program Reception at Settecento restaurant
7pm — ALOUD Program at Richard J. Riordan Central Library
We’re bringing together Bibliophiles, Library Council Members, Leadership Circle Members, and Young Literati Members for a special private Centennial reception preceding the ALOUD program Built for the Future—Saved for the Next Century, co-presented with the Los Angeles Conservancy.
Enjoy drinks, delicious bites, and time with fellow Library supporters before a conversation that brings Central Library’s remarkable history into focus—from the vision that built it nearly a century ago to the extraordinary effort that ensured it would survive for generations to come.
Featuring Susan Orlean, bestselling author of The Library Book; Adrian Scott Fine, President and CEO of the Los Angeles Conservancy; and preservation leader John Welborne, in conversation with KCRW’s Madeleine Brand, the program considers what it has taken to build, save, and sustain one of Los Angeles’ most enduring civic landmarks.
Reserved seating for the program is included with your reception registration.
