“[Sussman] magicks this material into a gorgeous, emotionally thrilling first-person novel… The love that swells beneath this scene, and every scene, will just about knock you over… Come for the riveting father-son mystery, stay for the most beautiful and moving mother-son story in recent memory.”
— Kirkus (starred review)
Join Young Literati for an evening with acclaimed debut author Sam Sussman in conversation with award-winning journalist Jean Guerrero as they explore Boy from the North Country.
Sussman’s novel traces the moving bond between a son and his dying mother, interwoven with revelations of her romance with Bob Dylan during the making of his album Blood on the Tracks. Both intimate and expansive, it’s a story of memory, loss, and the redemptive power of love that has already established Sussman as a striking new literary voice.
We look forward to welcoming you for an evening of conversation, literature, and mingling with the Young Literati community while you enjoy light bites and delicious libations, all in celebration of the Los Angeles Public Library and the stories that connect us.
