Author Louise Erdrich received the Los Angeles Public Library’s Literary Award in 1997. The award, given annually, is granted to a writer for his or her contribution to literature. Erdrich joined past winners Norman Mailer, Harper Lee, Susan Sontag, and Seamus Heaney in receiving the honor. This recording is taken from a reading of short stories at Central Library following the awards ceremony.
