IDEAS at LAPL is a mini-grants initiative that fosters innovative thinking and improvements to the Library’s service delivery. Every year, Library staff are invited to submit their ideas to pilot new programs or expand existing services. Applications are reviewed by a committee of Library staff that works collaboratively to identify and select the most compelling project ideas. Project ideas that align with the Library’s priorities and that have high potential receive small grants to help them launch and grow. Since 2014, the Library has launched multiple service enhancements through Ideas at LAPL including the L.A. Plays! early literacy program, the LAPL Book Bike that provides mobile delivery of library services, and Cajas Divertidas program boxes to engage Spanish speakers and Spanish learners.
