The Council of the Library Foundation is the premiere fundraising group in support of the Library Foundation of Los Angeles, which supports the Los Angeles Public Library’s Central Library and 72 branches.

Since its founding in 1994 by the late Flora Thornton, The Council has raised over $23 million. The Council produces the Council Literary Series and the bi-annual Council Literary Feasts. The Council provides significant support to critical Library programs that promote literacy skills, student success, and technological access.

All Council Memberships include invitations to the Council Literary Series programs and Library Foundation special events, seasonal advance notice of the Library Foundation’s ALOUD series, invitations to special exhibit openings, and a discount at the Library Store.

  • Gifts of $1,000 or more will be recognized in the Library Foundation’s Annual Honor Roll of Donors
  • Gifts of $2,700 or more will receive invitations to special VIP receptions for upcoming LFLA exhibits, with a fair market value of $60
  • Gifts of $5,000 or more will receive a personalized bronze card catalog drawer in the Central Library (new donors at this level)
