For the last 40 years, the photographer Sebastião Salgado has traveled through the continents, in the footsteps of an ever-changing humanity. Having witnessed some of the major events of our recent history: international conflicts, mass starvation and exodus, he is now capturing the planet’s pristine territories and grandiose landscapes as part of a huge photographic project, Genesis, which is a tribute to the planet’s beauty. His expansive body of work is revealed to us by his son, Juliano, who accompanied him during his last travels, and by Wim Wenders, himself a photographer, in this film– an Academy Award nominee for best documentary feature and winner of the Cannes Film Festival Un Certain Regard Special Prize. In a special screening in advance of Salgado’s visit to ALOUD at The Broad Stage, witness the images and stories of one of the century’s most prolific photographers in this remarkable documentary.
