Los y las antropólogas han rastreado la aceptación mesoamericana de las personas de género mixto a los relatos de los sacerdotes aztecas y dioses mayas del México precolombino, quienes se transvestían y a quienes se le consideraba hombres y mujeres. En el cambiante panorama de la identidad de género, ¿qué podríamos aprender de las y los indígenas zapotecas de la región del Istmo de Oaxaca que acogen a un tercer género —el muxe—, dentro de sus comunidades? Bamby Salcedo, fundadora de la Coalición TransLatin@ con sede en Los Ángeles, modera una conversación con Víctor Cata, historiador, escritor y lingüista zapoteco; Zackary Drucker, artista multimedia y productora transgénero de la serie Transparent de Amazon; y Maritza Sánchez, embajadora de los muxes en el exterior.

With more than 20 years of experience as a senior executive, Stacy has left an indelible mark on iconic L.A. arts, non-profit, and educational institutions such as The Broad, the Autry Museum of the American West, and the Skirball Cultural Center. Building on an early career in book publishing, she has dedicated her professional life to sharing stories and broadening the reach of public institutions to welcome visitors and students of all ages and backgrounds to experience educational, arts, and cultural opportunities.
